C’était ce que j’appelle une performance. Génial. Une voix et puis un petit marimba électronique, comme ça, avec du delay. Et tout l’espace est pris. C’est une plainte. Le chant comme une plainte, mais – encore une fois - quand la plainte fait du bien, quoi. C’est ça, encore une fois, le miracle de la musique : on ne comprend pas le texte, on comprend qu’on est dans une forme d’incantation, mais plutôt une forme de plainte, une forme d’abandon. C’est raccord avec ce qui est en train de se passer là-bas. Je ne sais pas combien de centaines, de milliers de réfugiés vont aller en Pologne, et du coup, encore une fois, cette langue parle à notre imaginaire. Et pour le coup, on a encore plus d’images que si on comprenait le texte. C’est ça le miracle de la musique : ce qui se passe deux choses dans une chanson. C’est que la musique raconte des choses et le texte raconte des choses. Et parfois ça peut être compliqué, parce que, je dis souvent, quand on écoute une chanson, quand on comprend le texte, ok, on est dans le récit de ce qui est dit, mais la musique est aussi comme un sous-texte, et c’est là que c’est intéressant. On va dire qu’une musique triste tout d’un coup avec des petites paroles un peu joyeuses ou des paroles un peu tristes sur une musique un peu guillerette - il y a plein de manières de contraster tout ça. Là, on était dans le texte musical pur, on était dans ce que nous racontait la musique, on était dans cette mise en scène, parce que c’était une mise en scène, c’était du théâtre.
On vient de voir une performance, encore une fois. C’est une œuvre théâtrale. Et c’était majestueux.

about Heart made (2015)
This is the debut album by Polish vocalist / keyboardist / songwriter Anna Ruttar recorded with a core trio featuring guitarist Andrzej Gondek, bass guitarist Wojciech Gasior and drummer Szymon Madej. Bassist Michal Kapczuk and kalimba player Bernard Maseli guest on one track each. The album presents ten original songs, all composed and arranged by Ruttar. She also wrote lyrics to nine of the songs and one song uses a poem by American poet E. E. Cummings. Nine of the songs use English lyrics and only one uses Polish lyrics.
The album is an excellent example of sophisticated Jazz-Pop Fusion, with the beautifully melodic songs dressed up in a Jazzy (and sometimes Bluesy) arrangements, superbly performed by the participating musicians. Combined with intelligent and meaningful lyrics, these songs are a great fun to listen to from start to end, presenting a truly exquisite collection of diverse, coherent, and rare quality music. The vocals / bass duet, which is the most Jazz oriented song on the album, is an instant classic and the solo track closing the album is perhaps a road sign for the future?
Ruttar has a nice, expressive voice and makes a good use of her vocal abilities throughout the album (...)
Instrumentally the album is pretty minimalist, and the most important, and by all means superb, contributions are by the guitarist, who plays some absolutely stunning licks here, all perfectly matched to the music. The rhythm section does an ideal job, being supportive, precise and professional, and most importantly not getting in the way.
Overall this is a superb debut effort, which sadly slipped under the radar when released, probably simply for the reason that it was too good to noted. I´d truly love to here more music from Ruttar, at the earliest convenience. Delightful stuff!

(...) śpiewa mocno, pewnie i bez maniery,
co wśród polskich wokalistek zajmujących się jazzem i okolicami nader rzadko się zdarza.
Słowa uznania należą się (...) szczególnie Annie Ruttar, która folkowy żar łączy z jazzowym warsztatem.
Także dzięki niej od takich piosenek jak „Na południe/Viaje Al Sur” i „Tiho i Lako”
trudno się uwolnić.
